January 2, 2013 Greece Day 4

Small one-day trip is like an adventure.
Driving to Pella and Edessa!
Without kindness of Christina we couldn't make this travel fun and touching.
There was very little information about this ancient city but by her great effort we could visit these wonderful ruins!

Beautiful mosaics are still seen.

And pillars.

Water pipes of the public bath remain.

And some cute dogs, not from the ancient period.

Then she brought me to the Archaeological Museum of Pella.

We could learn a lot about the life of the ancient people there.
Unfortunately neither have websites and there are very little information online now.
They need much more promotion to show off their honorable history and heritage!

Then we arrived at the hilltop town Edessa and had a late lunch.

Wonderful dishes, brilliant alcohol, and fun chat!
I can't say anything but thank you.

In Greece I found there are churches everywhere, bigger, middle-sized, and smaller ones.
So I realized how devout Greek people are.
This was my first time experiencing the environment of the Orthodox Christianity,  and now I am willing to know more about it.

By the way, Edessa is known by the waterfall.
It was refreshing to feel the dynamic flow of it.

January 1, 2013 Greece Day 3

Happy New Year 2013!
Slept well, I mean long, still suffering from jet lag.
Got a piece of this basil pie at the breakfast as a new year celebration, yay.

Still there are Christmas decorations around, my friend told me that they generally leave them until January 8.

Then we went out to the station to send some postcards at the post office in the station.

There are several stores such as kiosk and cafe.
At the entrance there are some bus stops and taxi station.
We took a taxi to Kalamaria to meet my friends at the restaurant "ΒΡΑΧΟΣ".
This is by the sea and apparently well known by its scenery from the balcony.

There are many tables inside too, but all the guests had tables by the window to enjoy the view.

Dishes are by the recommendation of Christina, mainly seafoods.
They are delicious and big, what I can say is great!

We chatted long, till after the sun set.

This entry is short, I found, and I realized that it's because I spent most of the time on that day with my friends.
Needless to say it was full of fun, and I moved by the deep kindness of my friends.
Thank you!
